Optic Pathway Glioma

Optic Pathway Glioma

Optic pathway gliomas (OPGs) are one of the most challenging neoplasms in modern pediatric neuro-oncology. Recent advances in imaging, surgery, and chemotherapy may lead to a better understanding of the pathophysiology and better clinical results. The term optic pathway glioma is used to define low-grade glial neoplasms that are epicentered within the visual system: the optic nerve (ON), optic chiasm, optic tracts, and, rarely, the optic radiations.
