Spinal Vascular Malformations
Spinal Vascular Malformations
Spinal vascular malformations are classified based on location and associated lesions. Spinal cord arteriovenous malformations are directly supplied by spinal cord arteries and drained by spinal cord veins, although dural supply can occur because of adhesion after surgical intervention or hemorrhage. The nidus of an SCAVM can be located either within the spinal cord or on its surface. SCAVFs are perimedullary in location. SCAVFs consist of about 20% of SCAVMs and are more common in the pediatric population and in patients with Rendu–Osler–Weber syndrome.
