Craniovertebral Junction Disorders
Craniovertebral Junction Disorders
A wide spectrum of congenital, developmental, and acquired abnormalities arises at the craniovertebral junct ion. These abnormalities are due to a complex developmental anatomy and to the neuroanatomical and musculoskeletal transitions between the brain and spinal cord and between the skull and cervical spine, respect ively. Various craniovertebral pathologic conditions involve the osseous structures and encompassed neurovascular system, resulting in a constellation of signs and symptoms that often complicates diagnosis in children.
